Jim Fires Training

Jim Fires Training is committed to protecting the privacy of Florida firefighters who use this platform. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have. We keep this straightforward because firefighters deserve straight answers.

What We Collect

We collect the following information when you register and use Jim Fires Training:

  • Identity & Contact: First name, last name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and department or agency name. These fields are collected at registration.
  • Firefighter ID: Your Florida Firefighter ID (FFID / FireTRAQ ID / FCDICE ID) as issued by the Florida Division of State Fire Marshal. This is required for CE reporting to FireTRAQ.
  • Course Data: Enrollment records, lesson progress, quiz scores, exam attempts, and completion status for every course you access.
  • Payment Information: Payments are processed entirely by Stripe. We never store, see, or handle raw card numbers or banking data. Stripe operates under PCI-DSS compliance.
  • Technical Data: IP address, browser type, and session information collected automatically by Supabase as part of authentication and platform operation.

How We Use It

  • To provide access to CE courses and track your progress through each lesson and quiz.
  • To issue certificates of completion and submit required CE completion data to support FireTRAQ (Florida's CE tracking system operated by the Florida Division of State Fire Marshal).
  • To process payments securely via Stripe and deliver confirmation of your purchase.
  • To send course completion emails and transactional notifications related to your account.
  • To diagnose technical issues and improve the performance and content of the platform.
  • We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to your fire service CE education.

Data Storage

All account, course, and progress data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted on secure, access-controlled servers. Supabase provides row-level security and encrypted connections for all data in transit and at rest.

Payment data is stored and managed exclusively by Stripe under their PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance program. Jim Fires Training receives only a non-sensitive reference token from Stripe — never raw card data.

We do not sell, rent, license, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. Data is shared only where required by law or to deliver the services you have purchased (for example, CE reporting to Florida state systems).

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated personal data. Note that CE completion records submitted to FireTRAQ are managed by the Florida Division of State Fire Marshal and may not be deletable from that system.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information in your account (name, email, FFID, department).

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@jimfires.training with the subject line “Privacy Request”. We will respond within 3 to 7 business days.

Cookies

Jim Fires Training uses session cookies only. These are set by Supabase Auth to maintain your logged-in session across page loads. Session cookies are temporary and are automatically cleared when you log out or close your browser — they are never written to permanent storage.

Session cookies vs. persistent cookies: A session cookie exists only for the duration of your browser session and disappears when you close the tab or log out. A persistent cookie survives browser restarts and is stored on your device for a set period (days, months, or years). Jim Fires Training uses only session cookies — your login state does not persist between separate browser sessions unless you explicitly choose to stay logged in.

We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party cookie services. There is no cookie consent banner because we do not drop any non-essential cookies.

Children

Jim Fires Training is an adult professional education platform intended exclusively for active or retired members of the Florida fire service who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has registered on our platform, contact us immediately at support@jimfires.training and we will delete the account promptly.
